Essential Cleaning and Care Instructions

Essential Cleaning and Care Instructions

Thank you for investing in an original work from MYMUDDYPIES WORKS. Proper care ensures your artwork remains beautiful for generations to come.

General Handling

  • Always handle artwork with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves.
  • Avoid touching the painted surface directly.
  • Support the piece from the bottom and sides — never hang or carry by the frame alone.

Display & Environment

  • Keep artwork away from direct sunlight, which can cause fading and cracking over time.
  • Avoid displaying near heat sources, vents, or areas with high humidity (e.g., bathrooms, kitchens).
  • Ideal temperature range: 60–75°F (15–24°C) with relative humidity between 45–55%.

Cleaning

  • Do not use water, solvents, or household cleaners on the painted surface.
  • To remove surface dust, use a soft, dry, natural-bristle brush and brush gently from top to bottom.
  • For framed works, clean the frame with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.
  • Never spray cleaning products directly onto or near the artwork.

Mixed Media Works

  • Mixed media pieces may include textured elements, fabric, or found objects — take extra care not to snag or press these surfaces.
  • Store mixed media works upright and flat — never stack face-to-face without protective padding.

Storage

  • If storing, place parchment paper between the artwork and its protective outer packaging, ensuring the paper is clean, dry, acid-free, and uncoated.
  • Store upright and avoid stacking works directly on top of one another.
  • Do not store artwork in a basement, attic, or other location with significant temperature or humidity fluctuations.

Professional Conservation

For restoration, reframing, or deep cleaning, we recommend consulting a certified art conservator. Do not attempt repairs yourself.
